Indicates the Academic Year of the Award.
Estimated Cost of Attendance (COA)
includes estimates of the costs for
tuition, fees, books, supplies, housing,
meals and living expenses; also,
computer, child care and student abroad
expenses when applicable. The COA
includes costs paid directly to GC&SU,
but also indirect costs students may
experience while attending school.
Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is the
amount that, according to Federal
guidelines, a family can contribute toward
college costs. It is based on an analysis
of the family’s financial strength, including
the income and assets of the student
(and spouse, if applicable), and, if the
student is dependent, the student’s
parents. The EFC is used to calculate
eligibility for financial aid.
Level Code indicates whether you are
considered an undergraduate or
graduate student.
Housing Code indicates where you will
be living during the academic year.
Residency Code indicates whether you
are considered an in-state or out-of-state
student for tuition purposes.
Gross Financial Need is the difference
between the Estimated Cost of Attendance
and the Expected Family Contribution.
Dependency Codes indicates whether
your aid eligibility is determined
including your parent’s income
(dependent) or only yours and, if
applicable, your spouse’s (independent).
Resources are funds that we are
estimating you to receive but are not
reflected on your account. Examples
may include but are not limited to the
following: outside scholarships which
have not been received by our office,
contract payments by an outside agency
(Vocational Rehab, Military waivers, etc),
HOPE Scholarship funds when your
eligibility cannot be determined until a
later date and Private Loan funds.
The award letter lists the type and
amount of aid you are tentatively
scheduled to receive from GC&SU
during the specified time. To receive
aid, you must be in compliance with
all applicable Federal, State and
University policies and regulations,
including Satisfactory Academic
Progress requirements .
Before aid is disbursed, student eligibility
is reviewed. Students must be eligible at
the time of disbursement.
It may be necessary to revise awards
during the academic year. You will be
notified via your Bobcat e-mail when
changes occur.
